Hillary loves her some earmarks..2.2 Billion worth...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-k-wilson/clinton-by-far-worst-abus_b_84102.html

"According to Taxpayers for Common Sense, Clinton obtained 360 earmarks worth $2.2 billion from 2002 to 2006. This record establishes her as by far the worst abuser of earmarks among all presidential candidates in both parties."

* The Los Angeles Times reported how Clinton had supported government funding for a major campaign contributor's plan to build "a mega-shopping mall complete with 10 Broadway-style theaters, an indoor river, a Tuscan village and a 39-story luxury hotel" called "Destiny" near Syracuse. Clinton arranged a $5 million earmark for transportation access, and $1 billion in federal bonding authority

*The Woodstock earmark raises further questions about the corrupt system of obtaining earmarks. On June 21, 2007, Clinton and Charles Schumer's $1 million earmark for the Woodstock museum was approved by a Senate committee. Nine days later, billionaire Republican Alan Gerry, the driving force behind the museum, donated (with his wife) the maximum of $9,200 to Clinton's presidential campaign. That same week, Gerry and his family gave $20,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee run by Schumer. Since 2005, the Gerrys have donated $18,600 to Clinton.

that's going to look just great (2.00 / 1)

when compared to McCain's "we should amputate people's hands if they vote in earmarks" approach.

Vetted indeed.

My guess is, this won't be making the rec list.

But think about it!  ZOMG, the Republicans are going to run stories on this!  They are going to attack him with it!  We're all DOOOOOMED in the fall thanks to this shocking revelation!

If it was a story about Obama - you can bet your ass it would be rec'd and full of comments just like this.

Good for her... (2.00 / 2)

I wish our California Senators were just as proficient in getting the earmarks that she did!

Large states tend to get screwed in the federal budget.  California, for instance, gets 67 cents for every dollar we send to the US treasury.

Well, if you happen to be related to Sen. Feinstein, then you'd probably be doing very well.

I swear, I cannot stand the Repugs, but sometimes I think they have a point with their pointing to a double standard. If Feinstein was a Republican, I think there would've been much more discussion of her ethical lapses.

Wow, agreeing with Republicans to bash Clinton (none / 0)

Maybe you hadn't noticed but Feinstein isn't running for president. Its amazing how much more press you start to get once you decide to spend months running for president.

Also, last time I checked a lot of Republicans took money from lobbyists and earmarks too. Ever heard of K street? Rick Santorium?

Is the Woodstock museum going to include a display for the brown acid?

Am I supposed to care? (2.00 / 1)

I mean really?

I think earmark reform is the same as public financing. I'm all for a bill that reforms the system for everybody , but absent such a reform, I support a candidate bringing in as much money to their states and their campaign as they can get. This just proves Clinton's legislative saavy in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I'm opposed to canadites getting money from shady sources or doing malicious quid pro quo but generally speaking I'm not going to cry tears about a canadiate bringing money to their state for businesses that create jobs for the local economy.

Also (2.00 / 1)

Considering that one of the earmarks lead to a substantial financial donation to the DSCC which then used the money to take back the senate in 2006, I don't think anyone should be complaining too much.

Re: Hillary loves her some earmarks..2.2 Billion w (2.00 / 1)

Wow, Thanks. I mean, I would rather vote for the second worst earmark abuser running for President.

Thanks for shilling for McCain though. I mean, I doubt anyone would find it attractive that he has never accepted an earmark in 3 terms in the Senate. Nope, that is not going to play with economic voters at all. Good catch!

Guess How Chicago Sun Times sees it? (none / 0)

Obama was taunted by John McCain about his earmarks a month ago, so after years of refusing to tell reporters about his earmarks he suddenly did an about face.

The problem is--- Chicago Sun Times reporter Lynn Sweet sees this as the beginning of Obama's achilles heel.  He's done this before.
